sorry cabs of Dallas, you just lost me to Uber

I swore to stay away from Uber for many reasons. Tonight I was having dinner near Love field and asked the restaurant to call me a cab. 90 minutes later and still no cab. So I got an Uber app, filled it out, and Jeff was there 3 minutes later. The cabbie arrived at the same time so the restaurant dealt with him.

The drive was safe, pleasant, and good conversation. So I didn't leave cabbies, they drove me away.

What am I missing??

Thanks

I had one driver cancel on a early morning pickup and a notification that I would be billed for cancelling followed. I used the apps mechanism to complain and they reversed the fee. A new driver took my route minutes later.. I was heading to the airport and made it with time to spare.

for me to get an honest cabbie at the airport. I only go about 10 blocks to UT Southwestern but over the years they have charged me anywhere from the correct rate of $8.50 to $18. The cabbies are screwing me plus they run with the meter turned off. So far Cowboy has been the best service.

Designed mobile apps, improved their service, and so on. Unfortunately, they chose poorly.

The whole industry stinks like yesterday's diaper.

Taxi, rideshare, trucking... the requirements and challenges of the industry frequently turns the most noble and positive people into bitter, angry shells within months.

I don't use cabs - live far outside town - and don't have a smart phone so I don't know how their app compares to Uber. Apparently some cab companies are trying to compete, though.

I've used it. It works well. It gives you an ETA and the number of the driver.

I think Uber should be completely shut down or completely regulated like the cabs they are.

I don't like business being a Bully and apparently the citizens of Austin kicked their asses out because Uber did not want to abide with the simple rules and regulations of the other cab companies. I think they were right to refuse to let them do business in Austin and not doing background checks on drivers. It was a decision BY THE PEOPLES vote in Austin.

Mine was getting turned down by three taxis in a row because my house is only a $12 to $15 fare from the airport. Fortunately since my parents moved into my house my dad just comes and gets me.

I tried to keep using taxis but one company had me waiting two hours for a cab so I finally called a competitor. The next time, the competitor made me wait an hour and a half. I've been using Uber ever since.
