Wet dream fiction for conservatives

https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews/stephen-coonts/libertys-last-stand/

KIRKUS REVIEW

An action-packed thriller and political rant featuring series standbys Jake Grafton and Tommy Carmellini.

Islamic terrorists have snuck across the Mexican border and carried out vicious attacks that have killed hundreds of Americans. President Barry Soetoro (the name Barack Obama really used until he was 10) suspends the Constitution and declares martial law. Barack—er, Barry—is a gun-confiscating dictator, an emperor, and most likely a closeted gay man who needs the welfare-seeking, baby-popping Mexican illegals as future Democratic voters. Every right-thinking citizen is simply fed up to the gills with him. “It’s a miracle someone hasn’t shot at him before now,” a character says. “But why shoot him?” thinks Carmellini—the Republicans would win in November in a landslide anyway. But Soetoro cancels the election and arrests many prominent conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh. This is the crisis Carmellini has been waiting for.

Snip

Evil Muslims play a dramatic role both in provoking the national crisis and in bringing about its dramatic resolution. “I am America’s hope,” declaims Soetoro in a final explosion of ego. The author doesn’t even bother to invent a completely fictional villain—no need, when he has the current president to slur.

This bilge is a middle finger in the face of most Americans, but if you happen to think Barry Soetorobama is the devil incarnate, then by all means buy it. The government knows where you live, though, so keep that AR-15 loaded and by your nightstand.

They even went so far as to take over the Hugo awards last year.

Thanks for the heads up. Coonts will never get a spot on my reading lit after seeing this twaddle.

I decided to look up that book in Amazon too. It gets favorable reviews overall!!

Some people really lap up that right-wing conspiracy nonsense!!

Here's one of the reviews:

Coonts' Best Yet
By T. Uryga on June 13, 2016
Format: Hardcover

Bought it Saturday, 2 days before the official release and read it straight through.

I'm still smiling today!

If you've paid attention to the news headlines over the last decade...the last year in particular... and read this book, you'll wonder where Mr. Coonts hid his crystal ball.

If you're worried about the elections this fall, you'll want to read this book.

And it takes off from there...believable, technically and doctrinally accurate. Thought provoking, and a level-headed treatment of many of the "what if?" questions patriotic Americans have been asking for most of a decade.

If you've read his previous books, you'll know the characters.

If you served in the military, you will probably identify with some of the characters in their moral quandaries.

Understand, this is not a gentle, politically correct book.

That it was published as written will surprise many. I suspect the author had to battle with the publisher to do so. I'm glad he did.

In fact, I'm waiting for the media fireworks when more folks read the book and the reviews start coming in.

Ten bucks says this incredible work makes it on Drudge Report.

I don't want to spoil it, so I'm not giving much detail on the plot. But rest assured, it's Coonts' best work ever.

Buy it. This is one nobody's going to loan you because it's a keeper you can read again and again when you feel like smiling at rats getting their just desserts.

publisher to do so. I'm glad he did. "

What battle?

It was published by Regnery Publications, the premier RW pamphleteer and propaganda shop who publish Coulter's, Rush Limbaugh's and Dinesh D' Souza's screeds

In fact every flavor of the week book published by the RW to give phony credence to their hatred of Obama and Hillary Clinton is published by Regnery who shoulder the cost because they are financially compensated by RW donors and PACs who buy their books

The books are bulk purchased by RW donors and PACs to push them up in the NYT Bestseller lists

Armed with this prepaid propaganda they then go to conventions like CPAC and flog them to their fans at $0.10 on the dollar

RW donors and PACs have succeeded in ruining the reputation of NYT Bestseller list by relentlessly spamming it with books written in RW book factories like Regnery

Coulter and Limbaugh have made their careers out of this scam

Regnery is on the same level as publishers that produce self improvement books and New Age gibberish about light workers and spirit healers

Spot on observation, amazing how much of this tripe is subsidized to push the RW agenda.

...after all, what's the audience for a book like this? Who's going to take e time to read it?

Answer: mostly people who already eat up these conspiracy theories and are gleeful at them being brought to "life". It's self-selecting.

... fear must be the main driving force!

I used to be disgusted by movies like "Red Dawn" back in the 80's (when the Communists were presented as our main threat), but the fear mongering is apparently worse now.

I just found this study.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-human-beast/201104/conservatives-big-fear-brain-study-finds

Peering inside the brain with MRI scans, researchers at University College London found that self-described conservative students had a larger amygdala than liberals. The amygdala is an almond-shaped structure deep in the brain that is active during states of fear and anxiety. Liberals had more gray matter at least in the anterior cingulate cortex, a region of the brain that helps people cope with complexity.
