Both parties have sects that can ignore some stuff and they like others.

For myself, I like expansion of social services for all, but don't like the racial arguments of the Democratic party.

Some people I know like only the religious part of the Republican party and their "support the troops" idealism but they hate the economics.

I don't know much about her but I don't try to judge on why they chose the party.
