While the Rio Olympics have been marked by controversy, there was at least one moment where the games managed to live up to its lofty mission statement of contributing to building a peaceful and better world.
Lee Eun-ju of South Korea and Hong Un-Jong of North Korea, both gymnasts competing in Rio, stopped for a quick selfie during the training period before the start of the Games on Friday. Given the history of the two Korean nations, it was a noteworthy photo:

Officially, South Korea and North Korea are still at war, having agreed to an armistice but never a formal peace treaty. And the tension between the two nations has remained high over the decades.
Despite the political division, the North Korean team has reportedly been interacting with athletes from other nations on a greater level than in previous years, according to Korea Daily.
For Lee, this is her first Olympics, having helped South Korea win bronze in the 2015 Asian Gymnastics Championships team competition (where North Korea was conspicuously absent). And Hong, 27, is an established Olympic force, having won gold in womens vault at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
