Stop comparing Trump to Hilter!

He's really more comparable to Kaiser Wilhelm:

...superficial, hasty, restless, unable to relax, without any deeper level of seriousness, without any desire for hard work or drive to see things through to the end, without any sense of sobriety, for balance and boundaries, or even for reality and real problems, uncontrollable and scarcely capable of learning from experience, desperate for applause and success,—as Bismarck said early on in his life, he wanted every day to be his birthday—romantic, sentimental and theatrical, unsure and arrogant, with an immeasurably exaggerated self-confidence and desire to show off, a juvenile cadet, who never took the tone of the officers' mess out of his voice, and brashly wanted to play the part of the supreme warlord, full of panicky fear of a monotonous life without any diversions, and yet aimless, pathological in his hatred against his English mother...

A cult of personality developed in the Soviet Union around both Stalin and Lenin. Many personality cults in history have been frequently measured and compared to his. Numerous towns, villages and cities were renamed after the Soviet leader (see List of places named after Stalin) and the Stalin Prize and Stalin Peace Prize were named in his honor. He accepted grandiloquent titles (e.g., "Coryphaeus of Science," "Father of Nations," "Brilliant Genius of Humanity," "Great Architect of Communism," "Gardener of Human Happiness," and others), and helped rewrite Soviet history to provide himself a more significant role in the revolution of 1917. At the same time, according to Nikita Khrushchev, he insisted that he be remembered for "the extraordinary modesty characteristic of truly great people."[35] Although statues of Stalin depict him at a height and build approximating the very tall Tsar Alexander III, sources suggest he was approximately 5 ft 4 in (163 cm).[36]

Like Wilhelm, he's a grown baby who got his power by inheritance and who could bluster us into economic disaster, war and ultimately give rise to something truly awful.

After all, Hitler hated far fewer people. Trump hates everybody who isn't a rich white WASP or woman under 25 he's physically attracted to.

What the comparisons are to is the overall political situation, with rebellions against party establishments happening in both parties. Their party went for the man. Ours went with most of the platform. Both parties remain in serious trouble with their rank and file.

The parallel is with the extreme discontent with the status quo that crosses all party lines.

Neither would have gained power without the support of the US citizenry. History can be very inconvenient when doing so.

Trump is very much a Sawdust Caesar in the mold of Mussolini. A great deal of flourish and emphatic statements, but little real substance.

Of course, giving Mussolini access to nuclear weapons and influence over the world's largest economy would have been equally disastrous.

Prescott Bush supported Hitler, and his name sake, George Prescott Bush supports Trump.

The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree, even if it skips a generation or two.
