Tell me if I'm wrong to post this on Facebook

I'm still a little under the weather so I may be a little more angry than anything, but a Facebook friend (someone I've known for over 20 years) posted a Youtube clip stating:
Obama Admits he's a Muslim. After watching about 2 seconds of this garbage I started to write the following:
My father speaks Arabic with a perfect accent but he's Jewish. I guess that's evil to you people too. Oh and goodbye to you. I know this post will be deleted but I don't care. You and Kelly (her sister) are both evil. I see it now. Something I didn't want to see before but I guess you have enlightened me to your pure evil. The fact that you have no idea what Islam is or what Arabic is or what the Middle East is about is why you are done as my friends. Goodbye and good riddance. I can't stand intolerant people any longer. I think that's what has caused all of the problems in this world and especially in this country. My family has Muslims in it I guess I'm just as bad as you think the President is. What a crock of shit.

I think I'm just going to de-friend the 2 of them instead.

or you can block their feed altogether.

But I think you are right to just take it as information about them and not respond to nonsense on FaceBook

You will regret it. But you did the right thing in writing down your thoughts and getting them out there. You vented and should now have more clarity.

I would just post a response that it is clear you no longer share any core values such as truth and transparency with them and as a result will be de-friending them on Facebook but wish them well.

It is taking the moral high ground even though you want to hit them over the head with a brick.

I have de-friended most of my FB friends that reveal they have no interest in facts or having an honest debate about issues on which we may differ. It just lowers my blood pressure to not be reading and viscerally reacting to their posts.

your signature line seems like it may apply to this situation. If that is how you feel when you are calm and healthy, then maybe that is the best course of action for you.

To ignore someone allows their error to spread to those who aren't ignoring them. If you reply with facts and a peaceable anture you may or may not presuade your friend but you will cause those also exposed to this nonsense to getting a better picture of the truth.

and that they should be ashamed of promoting it. Don't stoop to their level, but maybe remind her that we fought WWII over religious and racial hatred, and that America should be above that kind of hatred.

You know I was a little angry when I first saw the post and I just got a little overboard. I didn't post the message, I think I'm just done with them both. I really hate ignorance. And especially ignorance of the truth when it's slapped in your face.

You've then made a good point which others will think about. The rest just gives them excuse to ignore that point.

as the old saying goes, you can attract more bees with honey than with vinegar. In my opinion first try to make the same points. But in a friendlier tone and give them another chance. That's my opinion anyway.

I would make sure they know that what they posted was pure bullsh*t and they need to stop believing everything Fox tells them they should believe. THEN I would tell them that their beliefs are wildly offensive to me and that I can't respect people who can't think for themselves using real facts on which to base their opinions.
(That's probably just my OWN little fantasy about what I would like to tell the few wingnuts that I know)
But if you think you will ever want any type of relationship with them, best to not say all that and just tell them what they posted was untrue, and let them think on that before they post some more bullsh*t.

That's all I ever ask them. It forces them to expose their stupid bigotry and causes them to run around in circles trying to, on the one hand, hold on to the pretext that they support freedom of religion as guaranteed in the Constitution, while falling all over themselves proving the exact opposite.

When people become defensive about being a Muslim it justifies their bigotry.
