http://www.politicususa.com/2016/02/27/trump-freedom-press-not-people.htmlMore ominously, Donald Trump wants to be able to take legal action against those he thinks are unkind in their reporting. Friday in Texas, Trump revealed his utter disdain for the First Amendments freedom of the press, proclaiming that hes gonna open up our libel laws so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money.
He complained to the crowd, as he sold them his own pack of lies, I think the media is among the most dishonest groups of people Ive ever met. Theyre terrible.
Thats some claim coming from one of the 21st centurys foremost liars. The solution to people reporting unwelcome facts about him, Trump says, is to tear up the First Amendment and start suing the media silly. This claim earned him thunderous applause. Nobody hates critics of Donald Trump more than Donald Trump than his cultists.
Got fascism?

(805 posts)True, it's not worded as bluntly, but it's phrased in other ways such as "Bring back the fairness doctrine" or similar words. It's two sides of the same coin.

(1,306 posts)All of Donald Trump's utterances, fiats, ejaculations, or whatever you wish to call them
are simply his deepest fantasies being expressed out loud -- his fantasies about what
he would do, and could do, if he were The Supreme Ruler of The World. Every one
of his outrageously haughty quotes reveals one more facet of this very sick, grandiose,
self-absorbed mind. And they get more egregious with each passing day.
All of his flaws and transgressions can be distilled down to one, root problem:
Extreme and pathological VANITY. I have never witnessed a more vain character
on the world's political stage. If he weren't so vulgar, he would be Shakespearean.
I believe that his ego is salivating, and that he is truly in the throes of a child's fantasy
of being The Supreme Ruler of The World. This is a narcissist's dream come true -- having
the unchallenged and total authority to force everyone in the world to bow down to you and
to submit to your ego-driven whims.
Trump must be feeling justified and entitled, beyond his usual sense of entitlement, to
express all of the megalomaniacal fantasies which he has kept hidden within his creepy,
maggot-infested mind and well out of the view of the public eye. He stands at the precipice
of being elected POTUS -- one of the more powerful positions in the real world -- which is
no mere child's fantasy. The intoxication that comes with this level of power has to be too
much for him to contain.

(9,771 posts)he certainly has more than most people, and, unfortunately, having the most money all too often is equivalent to having the best chance of willing (or even fighting) the case.
We often talk of getting money out of politics. What about getting money out of the judicial system?

(54 posts)DJT is nothing more than a wannabe dictator with NO understanding of how our constitution works. His speech at the RNC, where he presented himself as the only solution to America's ills, is proof of this. Yet despite Trump's authoritarian tendencies, 40% of this country's population is more than willing to vote for this maniac.
May God help us all in America and the rest of the world if this fascist somehow steals the election, and appoints himself President for Life. The idea of Trump having his finger near the nuke button is a truly terrifying prospect.
