You know how the Reich Wing is screaming about the $400 million payment to Iran? Well.....

This payment was disclosed back in January.

The payment was the first installment of a $1.7 billion settlement resolving an outstanding claim at an international tribunal at The Hague.

You could be forgiven for being confused about that, given the way the story is being covered today (i.e., as another controversy replete with a war of quotations), but yes, people heard about this seven months back.

On the settlement issue, Iran's going to receive $400 million plus $1.3 billion in interest. U.S. officials say this is money that Iran paid for for U.S. military equipment before the revolution, and clearing these sorts of claims is in U.S. interests.
