How fortunate we have been to have lived in the time of his Presidency.

(2,493 posts)Is less inspiring than President Obama. It is certainly factually accurate that President Obama is much more popular than Hillary.

(113,490 posts)words. and lumping her in with the opposition is, in fact, a slap. and, just for the record, many, many people, here and all around the world, DO find her inspiring. knowing her record of accomplishments helps.

the depth of his knowledge and his command of the language.

Obama's presidency has sure exposed some real issues that must be worked on.
Mr. Obama has been a true class act.

(14,585 posts)He's so low key, under control. It makes me feel pretty safe, you know?
I'll miss him too. He will for sure go down in history as a great president. No doubt.
And, history will NOT be kind to the right wing nuts and assorted liars.

(2,322 posts)...that will not only be remembered, but carried on by future generations, he was everything a president ought to be, his wife everything a First Lady ought to be and more. Better than we could have hoped for or imagined.
I'm sad too, to see him and Michelle go. But I'm so glad, as well, to see them leave on a high note, with history in their pockets, and at least three generations willing to say, "There was one of the best presidents we ever had." We've been so lucky. And I would not for all the world have them stay longer. We should all be able to leave behind such a bright and shining legacy.
Fortunately for us, I'm pretty sure we haven't see the last of this kind, rational, funny, intelligent and brilliant leader. Nor his equally amazing wife and daughters.

I don't have the words--only: I'll miss him and Michelle too.

(10,100 posts)I will miss him and his lovely wife so much too. I was fortunate enough to see him at an event, everyone was so excited about it, it was fun. I can't even imagine the impact he has had on young people of all color.
Peace!

(54,417 posts)Sometimes briefly, once for an hour. Four of those times Michelle was with him.
He is everything previous posters have said/claimed/surmised. A truly exceptional individual.
Not without faults, and not without awareness of that. But all the more exceptional because of that.

Kidding a bit, but I do think the two Roosevelts (one Dem, one GOP) saved the nation at times it was in very great peril.

Yes, I didn't agree with him on all things (like TPP) but I'll still miss him
and his family.

(54 posts)Under his administration, we saw major healthcare reform, as well as expansion of rights to LGBT people. The economy improved greatly during his tenure, and we saw a growth of over 14 million jobs in 2016 alone.
But what I find most impressive about him is his generally calm and mature demeanor. In his speeches, Obama stresses the need for all Americans to work together to improve this country. And unlike his GOP opponents, he doesn't waste his time bashing people for being different. Compared to previous administrations, Obama is pretty much scandal free.
Overall, it's safe to say that I, along with many other Americans, will be feeling a sense of loss when he leaves the White House on January 20, 2017. It's been a good 8 years.
