I wondered aloud at work today.... do you think Trump might just quit?

No one really thought so, but to my mind he has always come off as someone who would - when he saw the writing on the wall - make up some bullshit excuse as to why he couldn't continue as the nominee (i.e. the system is 'rigged' against him), and simply hit the bricks. Trump is the textbook definition of vain gloriousness and I just couldn't see him allowing himself to be humiliated by a crushing electoral defeat. It may be 100 days or whatever out from election day, but honestly, truly, doesn't it feel like Hillary really is going to win this thing? And with ease. Trump is in full self destruct mode, and when he sees his world caving in - at least when his financial world has imploded in the past - what has he done? He's pulled the rip cord. Bankruptcy. What, 6 times or something? Or has it been 9? Something like that. He retreats, then re-emerges. I just have this feeling that once he acknowledges to himself that he really and truly has no chance to win, he'll just walk away. Not with his tail between his legs. Not bowed, not humbled. Not anything. More like, oh well.... that was fun for a while.... I coulda been President if I REALLLLLY wanted to, but I'd rather build tall buildings, and golf courses, and casinos, and run beauty pageants, and, and.... You get my drift. And because he's utterly delusional, he'll believe his own b.s., in fact be comforted by it (Donald knows best, just ask Donald) and he'll ask NBC if they're interested in re-booting The Apprentice or something. Just a blithely as all that.

I don't really think Trump ever wanted to be President in the first place, not really. He just liked the idea of being the biggest boss of all. But all the work that goes with it, all the responsibility, nahhhh, who needs it.

I suspect he's too fixated on showing off to the world how tough he is that he won't drop out.

Apparently he's making Reince Priebus apoplectic. Which is a kind of community service.

As long as people are paying attention to him, and listening to his spewing.

where he lumbers into a board room once a week and smirks at a camera while bawling out a few idiots and his two sidekick/yes men or lusted-after-daughter nod at his wisdom.

I thought the same as you -- his ego can't handle a humiliating defeat, so he'll say the system is rigged and flee. Then after Hillary wins he'll claim he would've won if he just stayed in, and his moronic followers will do the same.
