WASHINGTON ― Donald Trumps campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, pushed back against reports of turmoil within the Republican nominees campaign on Wednesday, accusing Hillary Clintons campaign of spreading a false narrative.
The candidate is in control of his campaign. Thats number one, and Im in control of doing the things he wants me to do in the campaign, Manafort said in an interview on Fox News.
The turmoil, this is another Clinton narrative that she put out there and that the media is picking up on, he added, describing the campaign as in very good shape after reportedly raising $82 million in July ― its best month yet.
The campaign careened off the rails over the weekend after the Trump picked a fight with the Gold Star parents of a slain Muslim American war hero. Ignoring aides and prominent GOP members, he doubled down by saying he didnt regret anything about critiquing the family.
The real estate mogul didnt stop there, however, racking up an astonishing number of controversies in the last 48 hours that threatened to disintegrate his already shaky support among elected officials in his party.

(28,017 posts)Following a week of high-profile blunders, Donald Trumps antics have left the chair of the Republican National Committee apoplectic and his own aides suicidal, according to several reports.
RNC Chair Reince Priebus was reportedly apoplectic over Trumps bucking the party line by refusing to back House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) or Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for re-election and called several of Trumps staffers to voice his discontent, according to NBC's Katy Tur.
An anonymous RNC staffer told the Huffington Post that Priebus frequently has to "talk Trump down off a ledge."
A longtime ally of top Trump staffer Paul Manafort also told CNBCs John Harwood that Manafort is not challenging Trump anymore and is mailing it in, while the campaign staff is suicidal." Manafort, for his part, denied the substance of Harwood's report.

(28,017 posts)My worry has always been that trump would not last until the election, and that the GOP would choose someone more rational.

(10,832 posts)In other words don't trust your lying eyes and ears. And it's a Clinton narrative. I love that. Hillary Clinton is so-o-o powerful she can make Donald Trump cray-cray, instructing him to say bizarre, outlandish things. And act accordingly.
The words came out of The Donald's mouth but Hillary was inside his brain controlling everything.
That Hillary, she's definitely has the mojo. A freaking Superhero. Hahahaha.
I'm laughing but the man and his crew are certifiable.
Sad.
