"VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE!"Ryan could tell his fellow congressmen to "Vote your conscience" and suggest that thy tell their constituents to do the same.
In this way he uses Ted Cruz's line at the DNC to skewer Trump, mirroring the manner in which Trump ("I'm really not there yet" slammed him yesterday.
I mean if he's going to have to disavowal his endorsement of Trump (and by all appearances that's eventually coming), he might as well go out in style. (And with a sound bite which will make the air for days, perhaps weeks.)

(5,715 posts)President obama shouldn't feel the need to talk sense to the republican party about their candidate either.

(22,037 posts)I know that's not your point, skip fox, but let's not give them any ideas on how to save themselves from the disaster that they so richly deserve. I just want to see all of these GOP un-American jackasses slide down the Trump escalator and end up in the slime with The Donald. That's how we can save our country.

(58,785 posts)if he repudiated Trump and lost that bloc in spite of currently having very strong support among Republicans, 85%, in his district according to Lawence O'Donnell.
PLUS, reportedly the Republicans cannot hold either the House or Senate without Trump voters. They must keep them happy enough to turn out in November.

(14,532 posts)That rescinding their endorsements get framed this way. The only reason they are talking it back is because Trump won't support them. Sheer spite.

(19,359 posts)By the way, I was not trying to help the Republicans. When Ryan disavowals (which it appears will become impossible not to do) let the gavel fall hard and sure, ready for a thousand newscasts so the revolution can be televised. It might marginally help Ryan in the public mind (for having something like a conscience and a wit), but the public spectacle of the Republican imploding will have only an entertain value.
