Eugene Robinson writes the opinion piece that needed to be written. Is Trump Crazy?

Trump's Supreme Lack Of Presidential Fitness
Eugene Robinson on Aug 2, 2016

WASHINGTON -- During the primary season, as Donald Trump's bizarre outbursts helped him crush the competition, I thought he was being crazy like a fox. Now I am increasingly convinced that he's just plain crazy.

.............

It is theoretically possible, I suppose, that Trump is telling the truth and everyone else is lying -- although in the case of the Putin relationship, it's Trump's word against Trump's. Or perhaps the lies about the NFL and the Koch brothers are little things. But he also lies about big things -- claiming, for example, that he opposed the Iraq War and the Libya intervention all along, when the record shows that initially he supported both. No, Trump is clearly a liar.

Also, he's alarmingly thin-skinned. Referring to critics who spoke at the Democratic National Convention, Trump said last Thursday that he wanted to "hit a number of those speakers so hard, their heads would spin. ... I was going to hit one guy in particular, a very little guy." Trump made clear Friday on Twitter that he was talking about "'Little' Michael Bloomberg, who never had the guts to run for president."

Bloomberg, a far wealthier New York billionaire, had belittled Trump's supposed strength -- his business acumen. In a tantrum of tweets, Trump charged that Bloomberg's last term as mayor of New York was a "disaster." Back when Bloomberg left office, however, Trump called Bloomberg a "great" mayor. Which is it, I wonder?

Finally, there's ample evidence that Trump is the worst kind of bully. Look at the way he reacted to the powerful Democratic convention speech by Khizr Khan, the father of a Muslim American soldier who was killed in the Iraq War.

He's so used to never being called on anything, actually worshipped usually, that life outside the bubble is strange to him and even stranger to those of us looking back in to the bubble.

But you used fewer words.

IMO, your very close to the dynamics of what's going on.

I live in an area surrounded by very, VERY wealthy people. Who have gates on their driveways, staff to do their chores and shopping, private jets to avoid traffic.

The house two doors down had teenage girls making a lot of noise in their pool after the 11pm Town noise curfew last weekend.

So I walked over to the house, through the gate which happened to be open, back to the pool area and introduced myself before asking the young ladies to keep it down. And purposely kept my tone light and friendly.

The next day the Mother came to my house outraged that I confronted her kids. WHY didn't I just ring the doorbell of the house and speak to her… my response was "but your my NEIGHBOR, I just wanted to ask the young ladies to keep it down"

Usually I just call the police if there's noise at night but wanted to go over and save everyone the trouble cause they are my neighbors and you could tell it was teenagers having fun in the pool and not drunken idiots or a party blasting music.

These people are so wealthy they can build a bubble around themselves and their families and houses and lives. It freaks them out when anything from the outside penetrates.

His bubble, his most inner circle, is made up of his kids who also work for him. Loyalty of family and dependence of position and income. They appear to not only never question him but overtly praise everything he does.

I watched his show until I was done with it. This coincided with first Ivanka appearing to offer her worldly insights then Donnie Jr. showed up. His contribution was to actually say, "I agree with what my father said...". This received an approving nod from Donald. That was the whole thing in a nutshell.

He's not crazy; that does a disservice to every person who struggles with mental illness or diminished cognative functions.

Trump is entitled. Period. He has lived a life entirely insulated from questions, challenges, and dissent. He has been surrounded exclusively by people who are deferential to him or people who can be cowed into being so.

And now that's over. And he hasn't got a single tool in his toolbox to deal with it, not just because he's an entitled ass but because tbe capacity of 70-year-old men to change their personality and demeanor is usually non-existent.

Lying about numerous statements that videotape proves he actually said, reversing or revising policy statements multiple times on the same day, an inability to let criticism go unanswered no matter what the cost to him and his campaign, a total lack of respect or empathy for others, inventing spurious facts and figures without hesitation. These all speak to a pathology of character that is far worse than mere entitlement.

I was, frankly, very happy to hear someone actually say it out loud.

I'm not a mental health professional so I don't know whether Trump is crazy or not. But I do know, without a doubt in my mind, that he behaves in a way that makes him unfit to hold the office of the President of the United States. Whether he is actually mentally unbalanced, or whether he suffers from "entitlement" as described up post, I do not want this volatile, nasty individual in the White House.

almost certainly has high blood pressure, so at his age he might have had a small stroke, which could account for his difficulty with language and logic, as well as his inability to remember his past pronouncements--even if they occurred just moments earlier--and which also could explain why he has no filter at all. (Even entitled rich jerks can usually put on an act in public.)

I have long assumed that he suffers from dementia. More people are beginning to notice now.

it was going to become a major topic, as it should

I mean, how much more obvious does it have to be demonstrated, by his almost every gesture and expression, every exaggerated modulation of his growly voice evidences his hypomania, at least. his moods need to be evaluated for what they are, and who knows what that is. did you see what they said about the doctor's statement that he submitted in place of the standard medical eval that candidates usually submit?

words to the effect that trump wrote it himself!

point is, if he had one in/on his foot, I can't imagine he didn't have to have it removed. so, does that mean the doctor was very incompetent in questioning trump, or did the orange utan lie about having one in the first place, or conveniently forget, for whatever reason, to tell this guy about it.

and, don't you love the ''to whom my concern'' salutation? what's up with that?

22. Four-star Navy admiral skewers "unstable" Donald Trump

By Sopan Deb
August 3, 2016

As Donald Trump's campaign continues this week embroiled in a series of controversies, a retired four-star admiral, John B. Nathman, has added his voice to the chorus of military voices blasting the Republican nominee over his incendiary comments about the Khan family.

"As Mr. Khan reminded us, it's time now for American leadership to repudiate Donald Trump," Nathman said in a statement. "What is required is not just the recognition of Trump's lack of temperament to serve, but I would add it also takes personal courage to say it out loud."

Nathman is a retired United States Navy admiral who has spoken out in favor of Democratic causes before. He was a co-chairman for then-Sen. Obama's presidential campaign in 2008 and spoke at the 2012 Democratic National Convention. At that convention, the DNC apologized after his speech for accidentally featuring Russian warships behind Nathman during a veterans tribute.

He has, however, largely stayed out of the political arena in the 2016 election cycle. Nathman's rebuke included a plea to Republican leaders.
