Taipei’s soaring temperatures set record high

The Central Weather Bureau said that the temperature in Taipei reached 38.5?C (100 F) yesterday, adding that this was the fourth time this year that temperatures in the city exceeded 38?C.

Four days of temperatures exceeding 38?C in a year is a record for Taipei since the establishment of the weather observatory in 1896.

Bureau forecaster Lin Chih-hui said that the phenomenon is caused by a strong Pacific high air pressure system, as well as low humidity around Taiwan.

The temperature in the city also tends to be higher due to an urban heat island effect, which happens when the temperature in an urban area is continuously higher than that of rural areas, Lin said.

The temperature in Taipei reached 38.7?C on June 1, 38.2?C on July 17 and 38.5?C on Wednesday, Lin said.

I know weather is not climate change. But I also know NASA has recorded 15 consecutive record breaking months of hot temperatures. The records being shattered this month in Taipei and elsewhere are part of clear and present pattern. We ignore at our peril.

And the freaking Republicans want to pretend nothing's going on. Trump, Pence, the whole Republican ostrich horde. We need to hammer them on this lie. Over and over.

For the sake of our children and grandchildren, we need to hold the White House, and take back the Senate and House.

READ AND REMEMBER:
"... the Democratic platform and Republican platform are practically opposites of each other. The Democratic platform calls climate change “a defining challenge of our time” and supports ”using every tool available to reduce emissions now.” The Republican platform dismissively claims that “environmental extremists” in the Democratic Party are working to “sustain the illusion of an environmental crisis...”

I remember in 2011 when he had a terrible heat wave in the Midwest. It got to 100F and it was humid as fuck. Fargo had the highest dew point in the world for a few hours, the heat index was 130F.
