Ms. Khan reminds me of my dear grandmother. In a similar situation, she, too, would have preferred to let my grandfather speak in her place. Yes, that's sexist, but we all grew up in and live in a sexist society, and we all absorb sexist messages like the one that says men should speak and women should listen. But regardless of that, it was her choice not to speak, and we have to respect that. I have great respect, admiration, and compassion for both Mr. and Mrs. Khan.
