When they destroyed Parisian art

WWII - France becomes occupied and an edict is given to melt down all metal works that have no significance historical value - in other words , anything that portrayed democracy, liberal policies, progression, the avant-garde and generally anything that might have offended the Germans, was deemed “ugly” and radical and sent straight to a hellish grave of twisted metal and fallen statues.
