During the primary season, debate was very heated. Indeed DU officials and moderators, within say protected groups like "Hillary Clinton" for Hillary supporters only would themselves freely toss around flame bait and then ban anyone who raised an objection no matter how politely, if it suggested they were not a Hillary partisan. (I cannot promise that this was done only by one side -- and without doubt there were excesses of various kinds from the Bernie camp). As the season drew to a close, many Hillary supporters were champing at the bit -- they couldn't WAIT to purge opposing views, and people if possible, from DU. At the very least, people like myself -- and I support 100% Bernie's endorsement of Hillary against tidal waves of stupidity from 'Bernie or Busters' many of whom are actually progressives but MANY of whom are not -- have to walk on eggshells around DU these days
That is why there are so many alerts. Some feel that it is part of the spoils of victory that they get to silence the opposition. They are only helping Trump by alienating Bernie supporters. Oddly, it is precisely the politics of Trump that won't really tolerate opposition and some of these folk are perhaps warming up to that new era. Of course, many trash Bernie's supporters left & right & alert them (most of my many jury duties lately have been that) and then later can blame those Bernie supporters who didn't come around if Hillary loses
