What's the deal with reddit's political section?

It used to be pretty down to earth but these days....look at the top 15 stories on the reddit politics front page. This isn't edited by me, at all. This is the order they appear in and what they say.

-Debbie Wasserman Schultz Resignation Megathread

-Sanders Calls for Wasserman Schultz to Resign After Email Leaks

-Sanders: Wasserman Schultz Should Resign

-Clinton names Wasserman Schultz honorary chair of campaign team

-CNN: Debbie Wasserman Schultz Will Have No Democratic Convention Role at All

-Kasich on Skipping RNC: "When You Stand on Principles, Sometimes You Stand Alone"

-Congressmen ask U.S. Attorney’s Office to investigate Clinton for perjury

-Democratic National Convention officials have stripped Party Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz of a speaking slot at the event next week, according to CNN

-Why Can’t Hillary Stop Fudging the Truth?

-Dem party chief won't speak at convention

-Thousands Hit Philadelphia's Steamy Streets to Protest DNC

-Clinton names Wasserman Schultz honorary chair of campaign team

-Trump Calls It "Sad" Women Harassed by Roger Ailes Not More Appreciative

-Hacked emails cast doubt on hopes for party unity at Democratic convention

-'See you in Philly': Anti-Clinton protesters converging on Democratic convention

-Fact check: Hillary Clinton's false and misleading claims

I can't tell if it has been taken over by Trump supporters or by angry 18 year olds that are obsessively pro-Sanders. I used to go there for real political news. Now the top 100 stories consist of the same 3 anti-Clinton articles repeated 97 times, 2 anti-Trump articles, and 1 real news story. It seems to be "Trump said he would nuke Miami on his first day in office. But who cares?! Did you see that a fromer 1 term Republican congressman said Clinton should be in jail?! We need 47 threads about this now!"

Friends, please explain.

...whether you or anyone on here wants to believe it or not. And by dismissing it as either "Trump supporters" or "angry 18 year olds that are obsessively pro-Sanders", the Democratic party is going down another very dangerous road with their heads in the sand if they think it's not going to be an issue.

And no, I'm neither of the things you listed. I'm a middle aged, lifelong Democrat who has voted for every single Democrat in every single election since 1986. I didn't think Sanders had a snowballs chance in hell in the General Election but I still think the way this primary was run and the way the DNC has been run post-Howard Dean has been a major shit show. There are a sizable chunk of people out there who don't like Trump but who also won't be blackmailed or scared into voting for someone else they really don't like, let alone if that person is someone who is to them very representative of the broken system we have.

And for the record I'm voting for her because I am one of the ones who can be scared into doing so. I just know that what you see there and what you list as problematic articles and issues with our candidate go far beyond the two overly simplified, childish categories you cite as the only possible reasons anyone would post those things.

I'm intrigued by some of the stories there. For instance, I was hearing about #DNClinks being "censored by twitter" but really it is still around, it just isn't a trending topic because few people are actually using it.

DU is practically an echo chamber compared to real, open political discussion-- particularly in primary season. Hillary does not have this election in the bag at all, and Trump has a much better shot than the prevailing 'wisdom' seems to recognize.

If the people here on DU would spend half as much time out in the real world convincing the sizable portion of the population who does not like or trust Hillary, as they do on here strutting around, still fighting the primary, and convincing themselves that anyone who doesn't like Hillary is either a Trump supporter or a Bernie or Bust person, then we might actually have a shot of getting enough people to vote for her.

But it seems they are all content to just continue their seemingly never ending victory lap.

I guess they can afford to do that since in the event of a Hillary loss they'll never have to admit that it was even remotely her fault for not engaging enough voters in a way that convinces them to vote for her.

Also Bernie-or-busters, but I think that movement's on its way to petering out - it'll get its last hurrah this week.

But the biggest reason that r/politics is such a shitshow is the alt-righters, who at the moment hang out in r/The_Donald.

And there are some alt-righters who are pretending to be Bernie-or-busters, just to stir the shit.

These are white-supremacists, honest-to-god fascists, red-pillers, mens-rightsers, gamergaters, and other like-minded douchebags. Before they started congregating in r/The_Donald, they were hanging out in r/Coontown before that subreddit got banned.

They tend to organize their brigading on 4chan or Stormfront.

and staunch Clinton opponents. Most Sanders supporters who have not moved on to Clinton have migrated to other subreddits. This sub still seems to be pretty anti-Clinton though.
