neighborhood of 45,000 and the site of the Festival of Light fireworks show was completely shut down
to traffic last night. We're used to traffic disruption from this annoying festival invading our neighborhood every summer but this year it was different
Davie street was closed to all traffic and Robson St had vehicle traffic redirected out of the West End going east and only one bus going into the west end going west towards the beach at English Bay
Then I find out from a friend, the reason is the police have two dump trucks blocking Davie St at Nicola with a squad of swat peeps behind each of them armed with assault rifles Here's the link to the pick of the trucks
Here is the link to the Google map of the location and the West End if you zoom out The West End is bounded by Burrard, Davie, Denman and Robson streets

The officers were going out of their way to be polite and even conversational at times as we made our way on Trains and by foot. They were offering tips on where to go to view them, etc. It was comforting.
I have to give the City all the agencies like state and local police involved the thumbs up.
