Chairman of the DNC is the MOST THANKLESS job in the party.

You take shit, you work long hours, you get no credit and take all the blame.

And you don't get paid one red cent for all that shit.

IT takes a lot of guts and party loyalty to even begin to do the job.

Thank you for your service, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. I am certain the next president of the United States will not forget your loyalty to the party as a whole when the time comes for appointments.

Chief of Staff? Her career ain't over. It's beyond the realm of reason that she would be in line for that position.

Republican heads will explode - and that's a good thing.

Got our asses handed to us twice while she was chair.

Only big win came because Obama was such a great candidate. Had nothing to do with her.

Also, Dean was praised for the work he did. So, not so thankless after all.

She could have done things a little better but that can be said about anyone. But the rabid left needed their pound of flesh and she was a convenient target so I'm glad she's leaving the post.

if it was so "thankless", why did she extort Obama into keeping her job?

She is a loan shark shill who shouldn't even be in congress.

The day we get a DNC chairperson who manages THAT is the day we can comfortably look forward to controlling both houses of Congress again. I have no idea at all who that might be. It is further complicated by the fact that when a party has the White House, the President is the Party head, not the national committee chairperson. Howard was so effective because he was DNC Chair in opposition. In other words, the party was in his hands. That's what made his achievements in 2006 and 2008 so noteworthy, but also so possible.

It's also why he resigned in 2009. He had no interest in coming into conflict with Obama, and did the noble thing when Obama's inauguration made him the titular party head. Howard got kicked in the ass for his trouble by Rahm Emmanuel, Obama's first White House Chief of Staff and long-time Dean-hater, and stoically accepted his fate. But WE, the Democratic Party, have never forgotten his achievement. Like Al Gore with the Vice-Presidency, Howard changed the definition of the job of Party Chair forever.

We now expect great things, nearly impossible things, from our party chairperson. Anyone holding that position from 2009 on can either thank or curse Howard Dean for that.

It is hard to know before hand how good a person will be at such a job and in Dean's case, it really was a thankless job.

Was there anyone that Rahm Emmanuel didn't rub the wrong way?

You know it takes integrity to call out corruption when the corruption benefits YOU.

Over a grand in this year to Senator Sanders campaign and annual contributions of 300-500 to the DNC the last 15 years, and 35 years of only voting for Democrats..... and this is what I got in return? No one pees on my leg and tells me it's raining.

I know corruption when I see it.... It doesn't take a genius to know when you're getting screwed over....

The fact that members of a forum that identifies as Democratic are looking the other way and even supporting this travesty is beyond my comprehension.

You don't have to condemn it, or even speak out against her actions....

But to support it? To thank this bitch? Really? Fucking really?

. . .although a former legislator would be OK.

DWS was essentially serving two masters: the Democratic Party apparatus and her own constituency. If you try to do both at the same time, you won't do either one well.
