I honestly don't know enough about the whole Sanders/Clinton kerfuffle and I am not posting this for anyone to litigate that here. There are plenty of other threads where that's being discussed ad nauseum.
My issue is that she was just a crappy DNC chair going back to the start of her term. Maybe my view goes back to when Howard Dean was chair and we had a REAL 50 state party.. Our downswing in congress is, in my view, directly attributable to her. True enough. Kaine was there between Dean and her, but I see the worst of it under her. Even today I don't see a strong 50 state down ballot movement so much as a Presidential movement.
Donna Brazille, who stayed steadfastly neutral through all the intraparty interplay and the primaries, will take over acting DNC chair. I always saw her a little too centrist to suit my taste, but also respect her as smart and capable. I think she's a good choice for this role at this time. Even Dean, who would be my choice, is still a little too controversial within the party. I Think Brazille lacks serious negative baggage, has few enemies, and is smart, capable, experienced, and partisan to the end.

Guess you were not paying attention in 2008.

Yeah, she needed to go, but not because she didn't support the independent candidate trying to take over the Democratic Party.

(47,953 posts)PHILADELPHIA It has been an open secret for some time that one of the weakest elements of the extended Democratic Party family under President Obama has been the Democratic National Committee. It has been a neglected institution that has become a public embarrassment on the eve of a national convention designed to highlight party unity.
The cascade of internal DNC emails that were released by WikiLeaks on Friday underscore what Sen. Bernie Sanders and his advisers have long claimed, that the DNC appeared to have its finger on the scale for Hillary Clinton through the long nominating contest.
In some ways, that is not totally surprising, because Clinton is the institutional choice of the Democrats and because DNC members are the partys establishment. But the national committees role is to maintain strict neutrality during the primaries, and the emails indicate that did not happen.
The emails also paint a picture that confirms what has long been assumed, that of a DNC more or less isolated from key elements of the party including the White House and left to the devices of its long-standing chair, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fla.).
