Wash. Post Editorial Board Excoriates Trumps Ignorance And Contempt For The ConstitutionPost Editorial Board: A Trump Presidency Would Be Dangerous For The Nation And The World
DONALD J. TRUMP, until now a Republican problem, this week became a challenge the nation must confront and overcome. The real estate tycoon is uniquely unqualified to serve as president, in experience and temperament. He is mounting a campaign of snarl and sneer, not substance. To the extent he has views, they are wrong in their diagnosis of Americas problems and dangerous in their proposed solutions. Mr. Trumps politics of denigration and division could strain the bonds that have held a diverse nation together. His contempt for constitutional norms might reveal the nations two-century-old experiment in checks and balances to be more fragile than we knew.
Any one of these characteristics would be disqualifying; together, they make Mr. Trump a peril. We recognize that this is not the usual moment to make such a statement. In an ordinary election year, we would acknowledge the Republican nominee, move on to the Democratic convention and spend the following months, like other voters, evaluating the candidates performance in debates, on the stump and in position papers. This year we will follow the campaign as always, offering honest views on all the candidates. But we cannot salute the Republican nominee or pretend that we might endorse him this fall. A Trump presidency would be dangerous for the nation and the world.
..........
We have criticized the presumptive Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, in the past and will do so again when warranted. But we do not believe that she (or the Libertarian and Green party candidates, for that matter) represents a threat to the Constitution. Mr. Trump is a unique and present danger.

Where were they when shrub drove the world over a cliff?

(16,939 posts)Yes, where were they during the "W" years?
If so many of us saw and understood what that debacle was all about - where were they (yeah, I mean Sarah's "Lame-stream media" .
On that point she was right - they WERE not doing their job - only the job they should have been doing was showing the world what asses BushCo and Company were, as well as her own failed attempt to put one over on us all.
We can only hope that this time around it will be different.

(2,657 posts)Many of his followers would cheer the blood of their political adversaries flowing in the streets of America quite literally. Anyone who does not understand this fact needs to go to any of the RW chat sites and you will be sickened with the vile bile you see flowing.

(28,795 posts)horrible treatment of her, and she visited her illness on Angela. I know. I was there. just kidding.
she DID, however, spend most of the first year of her life ALONE in an empty white room room, attended to by babysitters, and almost never seen by her mother, who couldn't stand to look at her, because she looked so much like her father.
this is such a sad story, and shows how this horrible developmental abuse resulted in the kind of person she's grown to be....admirable in many ways, but deeply deeply disturbed.

you have to scroll up and back to get this whole episode, but it's sadly compelling. and you can lay it at the feet of that scumbag, Jon Voigt.
any wonder why she doesn't have anything to do with her?
if you want more than interesting summer reading, this book is well worth a try.
