Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI need news of open-carrier problems around the RNC area for a Lit assignment.
In an essay, I predicted the gumpers would cause problems. I am collecting info on that in a followup assignment. Please point me to anything you've read or heard. Supplementing my search with anything you've found, if you're interested in helping.

(4,762 posts)Why not write about Dallas, where open carriers in the crowd meant that cops didn't know who was friendly and who was shooting at them?

(11,996 posts)With all the press there, all the coverage of open carriers and protests?
Doubt we missed it.

(2,493 posts)Although I read at least one story about a motorcycle group engaging in open carry (not sure if they were a "gang" or not). Let me know if you find anything.

(28,276 posts)and Gov. Kasich's determination that he couldn't do anything about it. Plenty of news write-ups about what happened. Make mention of the fact that open carry is controversial even among the pro-gun rights movement, because of all the negative publicity open carriers engender. There's nothing normal or healthy about AR-15-wielding head cases showing up at a political event.

(341 posts). . . thus justifying all that you mention: the cop union asking for suspension of open carry, controversy, perception that it's not healthy, etc.
I need the items documenting the bad behavior. Share if you find them. I think I've found one or two items that I can at least argue might have turned out bad. Thanks!

That is, if you are genuinely researching for a paper.
Why a "lit paper" i.e. Literature? Seems like it would be more of an assignment for a class in Civics, Sociology, Political Science, or even (depending on your major) Criminal Justice.
Unless, of course, what you want is a shooting match -- er, shouting match -- online.
Rolled my eyes so hard after reading the request they fell out of my head.

(2,493 posts)I'm no fan of open carry but at the same time haven't seen many reports where it caused an issue. The only two I'm aware of is the Colorado shooting last year or the year before where people did not call the police because open carry was allowed and the guy in Dallas who was wanted for questioning because he was open carrying before the shooting.
