Erdogan jumps yet another shark.

Turkey shot down a russian fighter-jet that was bombarding rebels in Syria.
The official turkish explanation was that the russian jet had violated turkish airspace while flying a curve for a new bombing-run.
A more likely speculation that emerged was that the russian jet had been bombing turkmen rebels, allies of Turkey in Syria.
Anyways, Turkey maintained that it had every right to shoot down the jet. The diplomatic relationship with Russia got really, really bad.
July 2016:
Erdogan is accusing the pilots who shot down the russian jet of being members of the Gülen-movement and traitors who wanted to ruin the relationship between Turkey and Russia.
They have been arrested.
First, Turkey defends the actions of the pilots. And once they become inconvenient, Erdogan sacrifices them and declares them traitors and putschists.
