David Brooks said it was relentlessly dark. The shouting got to him. And focus on Law and Order was wrong ... and ... wait for it ... "Hillary Clinton is going to drive a truck through it" )

It was dark and angry and perhaps fear-mongering. That might have rubbed people the wrong way. It may have turned voters off.
But perhaps that kind of speech matches with what much of the public feels right now. A strong majority of Americans are angry at their government. They think the country is on the wrong track. So perhaps to a voter like that, this speech came off as realistic instead of the typical sugar-coated and positive speeches you typically hear at these conventions.
Just some thoughts.
