(7,643 posts)I knocked on doors with a candidate and we talked to hundreds of registered Democrats this spring- before Hillary was the presumptive nominee. A handful of them were supporting Trump at that time. I have also talked to numerous Bernie supporters- the kind that show up for rallies. A significant number of them will not vote for Hillary, but most won't vote for Trump either. They will vote for Jill Stein, write in Bernie, or undervote.
I do see Hillary's history of support for earlier trade deals and her waffling on TPP as a clear liability. Picking a TPP supporter like Kaine will confirm the doubts that many have.
