(5,762 posts)What load of logical fallacy hooey.
Haters gonna hate. Let's just call all of them what they are: ignorant people with hate in their hearts and very bad ideas.

(58,785 posts)some just different flavors. Not that one would expect that self awareness of any of them.
As for the Bible, the ignorance of most congregants of evangelical and fundamentalist religions is off the charts. Wearing the label prominently displayed is enough for so many that church leaders are always writing articles only they read about it.

(4,311 posts)Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them."

(58,785 posts)And the "beware of false prophets" a positively freudian mistake.
I'd forgotten the context, but in my defense I've never been a Christian, ever. Thank you for pointing it out, Auntpurl.

(4,311 posts)Now I'd describe myself as "vaguely spiritual".
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)since I tend to avoid any questions I can't google answers for. A lovely Christian friend did once assure me that she felt I was very spiritual. Very sweet woman, wouldn't allow anything less for a friend.
Not saying I'd become a Catholic, but if I joined a church it absolutely would be one with professional spiritual leaders and a mission for teaching, enlightening, and moral improvement, not just waving the carrot and stick.

(6,716 posts)this is the kind of shit that makes me hate them. Who in the hell are they to judge who is christian or who isn't? Defending your family and standing for what you believe in makes him more "Christian" than they are by sticking with a hateful man.

(14,537 posts)if I have this right.
Ted Cruz should prove his Christianity by endorsing a man who has cheated on his wives, lies 90+% of the time. Brags about sleeping with other men's wives. Tried to steal a woman's home to build a parking garage. Does not pay people for their work. Hates his neighbor and wants to end help to the poor.
He has clearly broken commandments, 7, 8, 9, and 10. Has a questionable relationship with 1,3, and 4.
Eh. But Cruz is not against Trump over principles, as Cruz stands for many of the same things. He is against Trump out of spite. Which keeps him on the same level as Trump.
