That he planned for Cruz go out there and not endorse him so that Cruz would get booed, whereupon Trump would come out and overshadow the end of Cruz's speech, to create a moment of theater. In other words, he deliberately let Cruz hang himself. I don't buy it.

(36,437 posts)This supposed plot is even dumber than the suggestions that the plagiarism was deliberate for some other brilliant Trumpian scheme. How you gonna have a convention where even your own speakers are sabotaging you? And you're gonna bring the strongman to Putin? It's ridiculous.
Trump is a figure of ridicule. If not after the Melania fiasco - the action of an arrogant, lazy asshole - then by this Cruz catastrophe, the only explanation of which is that the strong man is not only weak, but deeply stupid and gullible.

(7,188 posts)I get idea of making Cruz look bad to unite GOP. If this happened on Tuesday, I would almost say brilliant. But why would Trump do this on Pence's night - over shadows Pence completely.

(90,793 posts)...yet Cruz continued to speak, Trump stepped into the light and onto the stage. Wtf was he even doing there? Then Heidi was mobbed on her way out and security had to escort her to safety.
I heard Matthews, Michael Steele, and one of the floor reporters describe this. It's a bad scene.
