None of them really know how to do anything else
If that happens, we're in for another noisy eight years of obstructionism
Let's put Clinton in the White House and give her a Congress that will work with her

And given the level of gerrymandering, only a huge Democratic turnout can change that.
The GOP is obviously not a governing party, they are the rear guard of the RACISTS who are still fighting your civil war.
Edited to replace the word South with the word racists.

(11,949 posts)We southerners can you? Well, my state has gone blue the past 2 elections and will again this year. As will Virginia and hopefully North Carolina. And maybe more.
Ever notice that there are lots of states in the west that are even more reliably republican than many southern states? But you do not denigrate them.
Want to compare the Louisiana or Virginia governor with the one in Wisconsin or Indiana or Ohio.

(42,641 posts)And I should have said that the GOP is the party of racists who continue to foght your civil war.
My apology to any southerner who (correctly) felt aggrieved.

(11,949 posts)I do not disagree.
Although it does seem to me that the right wing out west may be even more hard core than even in the south. I am thinking the Bundies and that sort.
And do not give up on the entire south. There are democrats working hard to loosen the republican hold.
Have a nice day.

(18,672 posts)"They" meaning the Koch brothers and their ilk. As long as they can pack Congress with do-nothing, obstructionist conservatives, the POTUS has next to no power and nothing gets done. In the meantime, our infrastructure crumbles.

(26,648 posts)I will work hard to re-elect Senator Bennet in Colorado, as well as my Democratic Rep. Polis's seat is fairly safe, as we are in Boulder's district, but the loss of Udall's seat was terrible. Can't allow that to happen again. I will also be donating to candidates in other states.

(9,033 posts)As a native (yes, actually born and raised) of Boulder and life-long Democrat, I have to say that Bennet turns my stomach, and Polis (for whom I was a state delegate in his first campaign) is not much better. And Udall was a HUGE disappointment, ran a STUPID re-election campaign (losing to Gardner? Really?) and lost the opportunity to solidify Democratic gains in the Great State of Colorado.
I am so done rooting for the "D". I want actual policies I can get behind--even if we can't get them done--yet.

(26,648 posts)I have issues with Bennet and Polis, but no challenger worth a shit has come forward since Andrew Romanoff, and he couldn't get the support, though he sure had mine.
Who would you support in Colorado elections? Was Romanoff liberal enough for you? Most Dems these days do back the corporate agenda. It's up to people to change that, and I've campaigned hard for change, but I'll damn well support the candidate who gives us the best chance, and that would be Democrats.
In Colorado, I believe not voting, or voting third party, elects Republicans, especially when Colorado media puts lipstick on pigs like Cory Gardner. I think Udall ran the best he could against a candidate so beloved by our idiotic media.

(24,437 posts)She will definitely need some support to get things done. She definitely needs the Senate- so that Republicans can't claim that we need to wait until "America has spoken" in 2020 on who they want selecting SCOTUS Justices. You may laugh but I certainly wouldn't put it past them. I'm still incredulous that we have gone 4 or 5 months with Republicans getting away with blockading the appointment of a Scalia replacement.
