RKP5637
(67,112 posts)inciting violence, but then everyone throws up the first amendment. How far do we allow irresponsible free speech by highly public and far reaching cable news stations. IMO, Fox News, for example, is directly responsible for much of the hatred, violence and hostilities in the US.

(870 posts)I am actually HERE....one of the first things this morning was an interview on LOCAL tv with a contractor who had arrived in a truck full of guys to a job site on the property involved. He talked about the two groups of guys who were shooting at each other - and one of them was dead in the parking lot....and this was BEFORE the cops came.
Yes, there is tension between the black community and police - here as it is everywhere. But I have no reason to believe this was an ambush.
National tv stations were talking ALL DAY as if this was just an attack on the police. It did not start that way. There are several witnesses who corroborate this.

(92,396 posts)a racist, sexist, and bigoted station, and Mike Wallace would be rolling in his grave that his off-spring is spewing that bullshit.
Other networks won't criticize this garbage, they are all into this crap, it is just a matter of degree.

(62,448 posts)I can think of no group within this country, no matter what the common traits are, that act as a monolith.
But Fox and its ilk sure do want to paint all people of color as acting as one in many instances. They are thugs etc. etc. It is almost as if Fox wants some kind of domestic insurrection (or to justify one by neo-nazis) for ratings.
Man they make me mad.

(570 posts)They sometimes even acknowledge it like today when Wallace also admitted in an interview with Paul Manafort that FOX is in the business of making stuff up.
@9:46
Wallace: I understand that, but the point is that he's talking about this in very much issue terms while your guy Trump . . well, they're both your guys now. Trump is talking about lying Hillary, crooked Hillary. Is Trump going to be the one who really has to make that kind of case in very personal terms?
Manafort: Trump is talking about the same issues that Pence is talking about and that's what they're going to be prosecuting together. Style is different, but substance is the same. So, to assume that one is going to be different is to create something that's not there.
Wallace: That's kind of what we're in the business to do, Paul.
I don't see how what FOX employees (and their friends) do can't be considered incendiary. Their lies are very damaging.
