An Omaha man was charged with second-degree assault in connection with the stabbing of a Bennington woman who was walking near her home with her two young children.
Jason A. Billingsley, 42, is accused of stabbing Amy Phillips four times in the back with a pocket knife. Billingsley was arrested by deputies after being subdued by pepper spray, said Marty Bilek, chief deputy of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Billingsley also was charged with use of a weapon to commit a felony.
Bilek said Phillips was treated at a hospital for injuries that were not considered life threatening.
