Martin Shkreli after learning of fraud trial: 'Can I play Pokémon Go now?'

Martin Shkreli, the pharmaceutical boss dubbed “the world’s most hated man” after he increased the price of a HIV-related drug by 5,000%, was on Thursday told he will face trial for fraud.

As he walked out of court , Shkreli had something more pressing on his mind. He asked his lawyer: “Can I play Pokémon Go now?” according to a New York Post reporter who overheard the question.

Shkreli, who hit the headlines last year after he hiked the price a life-saving drug often given to people with HIV or cancer from $13.50 to $750 a pill, is accused of defrauding investors in hedge funds he ran.

US district judge Kiyo Matsumoto set the trial for 26 June 2017, after Shkreli’s high-profile lawyer Ben Brafman asked for the trial to be delayed due to complex motions he planned.

Accused Fraudster Martin 'Pharma Bro' Shkreli's Trial Set for Next June

by DAN MANGAN, CNBC

Martin Shkreli has the next year to perfect his Pokemon Go skills.

At a hearing Thursday, a federal judge set the trial date for June 26, 2017 — more than a year and a half after Shkreli was arrested in December 2015 on allegations of securities fraud.

Shkreli's lawyer Benjamin Brafman also told U.S. District Judge Kiyo Matsumoto that he intends to request that the trial be severed so that his client can be tried separately from his co-defendant and former company lawyer Evan Greebel.

More like an overgrown child with a lot of years on him.

But he's no adult. He's a selfish, self-absorbed jerk.

Maybe he'll get run over by someone else playing the game and not paying attention to the road.
