a terrorist attack at this point by certain media. Unless they find undetonated explosives in the truck, I'm willing to think it was just the act of an angry, disgruntled someone. Enough with the sensationalism.

last year. I think the guy was self radicalized. He killed one soldier that way. So I do see why they are calling it that. That being said CNN backtracking on using the term terror. Calling it only an attack.

You can say it was likely, but with many major news stories the first reports are often flat out wrong because eye witnesses are really bad in traumatic situations.

Lessons taught but never learned
All around us anger burns
Guide the future by the past

La guillotine claimed her bloody prize
Hear the echoes of the centuries
Power isn't all that money buys

All this time we're talking and sharing our rational view
A billion other voices are spreading other news
All this time we're living and trying to understand
Why a billion other choices are making their demands

Talk of a Peaceable Kingdom
Talk of a time without fear
The ones we wish would listen
Are never going to hear

All this time we're shuffling and laying out all our cards
While a billion other dealers are slipping past our guards
All this time we're hoping and praying we all might learn
While a billion other teachers are teaching them how to burn

Respect for other cultures has for too long shielded Islam from criticism.
Terrorists do not come from space ships, they hail from the literalist half of worlwide Islam
(according to Pew Research, half Muslims worldwide place the Sharia above democracy)

I still believe Trump will fail, but the Democratic Party should review its stance on immigration from countries where literalist Islam is the cultural norm, for fear of suffering the electoral defeats far right politicians are inflicting on European Social Democrats.

groups or from RW "sovereign citizen" type militias. Many of their members are former military or LEOs. Some are still LEOs. White supremacy is often either an undercurrent or a proudly displayed part of their ideology.

Right now Islamacists are committing the most frequent and the splashiest attacks, but RW Christianist and RW sovereign citizen militias (the group membership often overlaps) will probably start making more news here soon enough.

As of now, though their terrorists have been acting alone or in small groups (e.g., Timothy McVeigh, Terry Nichols, and Michael Fortier; Eric Rudolph; Jerad and Amy Miller, who murdered two Vegas police officers and draped their bodies with the Gadsden flag after participating in the Bundy Ranch standoff; Robert Lewis Dear, the guy who shot up the Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic; Eric Frein, the PA man who killed one cop, wounded another, then hid in the Pensylvania woods).

Several big plans have been thwarted by police or by the FBI, partly because they have some of these people on their radar already, but sometimes just by way of luck.

Since the sovereign citizen types tend to drive without a license and often without a license plate, they are often pulled over, and when that happens, the cops sometimes find them with caches of weapons they are not allowed to have--because often they carry felony convictions on their records. That is one of the ways they have nabbed potential terrorists while they were still stockpiling weapons and making their plans.

And San Bernardino, Orlando, don't tell me you don't see an increase.

This is exactly the kind of thing I worried about happening even if guns were banned. Some guy could just get a truck and mow down 100+ people in a crowd. Guns are not the problem here. We're dealing with a group of extremists who are bent on Armageddon, and they'll kill massive amounts of people by any means available.
