Sometimes it’s hard to tell when you just like the IDEA of something, but not the REALITY.

About 20 years ago, I went into contract work in the field I was in at the time. The money was part of the lure (although I really didn’t get that much more, I know now). And part of the lure was the idea of living in different places, moving around from place to place….I found out that I didn’t like it worth a toot.

I'd liked the idea of moving around from place to place, but not the reality.

Can anyone relate?

So, we essentially fall into two camps of trying to make it right. Either trying to get to some imaginary "pure" state of yesteryear that never existed and the approximation was awful or attempting to play the little Dutch Boy and sticking fingers into the natural holes in a vain effort to make it what it "should be" but cannot be and never has been.

to a different city each week would be fun. We were required to teach 48 weeks out of the year and I made it about 22 months before declaring I wanted out!
