discussing this very issue. Bottom line, according to the participants; older cops want gun control, younger cops are opposed to it.

Unfortunately, politicians usually exempt off duty cops from gun control laws so as not to hamper political support.

Plus it depends on which guns. The cops I know personally aren't against hunting rifles or pistols, but strongly support an assault weapons ban. I only know cops personally from Prince George's and Anne Arundal County in Maryland
