how black men should behave when they're pulled over by a cop

This video by country music singer Coffey Anderson, is aimed at black men, and contains instructions for HOW to behave when you're pulled over.

The message is, all black men are a potentially threat. Therefore, there are special rules of behavior when they get pulled over. They must always assume a cop is primed to shoot them.

Highlights on how to be a "good" black man when you're pulled over:
- car turned off
- ID on dash (WTF, who puts their ID on the dash?!!)
- both hands on steering wheel
- radio volume 0
- do not sit on wallet. (But my wallet is in my pocket, where I usually put it!)
- wallet should be at side of door, cup holder or front dash, and have ID pulled out before the cop gets there (seriously?!!)
....

It's offensive.
I feel so profoundly sad to see this.

Way back Connecticut had green paper drivers licenses and I always kept a $5 bill stashed behind it.... I got pulled over one night in the dark drive into a park I was camping at and fumbled in the dark and handed the cop a $5 bill !

"GET OUT OF THE :&$3$:$ CAR!"

Eventually he laughed

We get in his marked company car and he throws his wallet and company ID on the dashboard. I asked why he did that. He said it was for safety. He grew up in a small east Texas town. Did I mention he is African American.

Unfortunately these lessons can be the difference between life and death for Us. Now my fellow Black parents are preventing our kids from having black wallets and cellphone covers. Both of mine are light brown. I bet White parents never think about this.

On MTP this morning, Chuck Todd intreviewed Homeland Security Chief Jeh Johnson and New York City Police Commissioner Bill Bratton about the events of last week. At the end of the interview he had the following exchange with Johnson, who is black:

CHUCK TODD:

Secretary Johnson, before I let you go, I know you have a son, have you ever had the talk that many African-American fathers say they have to have with their sons?

SEC. JEH JOHNSON:

Yes, and I think I'll leave it there. Yes.

Why should black children have to learn a different way to interact with the police to insure their safety? IMO, that is what is offensive.

It's pure respectability politics, straight down the line.

Instead of the vid being shot as a serious exercise, which I'm sure was his very intention, it looks to me that he has all of the elements to shoot a parody instead.
