Cop in murder of Castile, said in communication dispatch that Castile looked like a robbery suspect cause of his wide nose. Then pulled them over. So of course it was not so called broken taillight .it was an excuse to pull him over.

a potentially violent criminal with a gun.

That is a completely different mindset than if it really was just a routine traffic stop due to some deficiency with the vehicle.

Don't take this in any way as a defense of the cop's actions, by the way. It's not. Just trying to understand why he so quickly went over the edge.

While I think the cop certainly needs to face consequences for his actions - and what about the other cops there, and not rendering aid? that is the part that REALLY blows my mind about this event - I think that this shows a real failure of training, and possibly psychological screening, in that police department. He shouldn't have gone so completely off the rails just because he thought he might be dealing with a robbery suspect. An officer who is going to get that tensed up and hair-trigger in that situation, maybe shouldn't be an officer at all.
