Unions are effectively busted with the Citizen United decision. We're in the greatest recession (dare I say depression?) working people have ever endured. With little or no worker's rights, everyone waiting for the wealthy job creators to create the jobs, people are leery to say that the public sector is doing ok. Call it Stockholm Syndrome, or extortion by the CEOs in the private sector, but workers know who signs their paychecks. If the boss says that he's broke, you have to work longer and for less, you do it.
