The outlook for the Colorado Springs job market for the third quarter is the best in nearly four years and among the best in the nation, according to a quarterly employment survey by temporary staffing giant Manpower.

The percentage of local employers planning to add staff in the July-to-September quarter exceeds those planning employment reductions by 21 percentage points, with 28 percent planning staff expansion and 7 percent expecting reductions. That is the most optimistic outlook since the final quarter of 2008, a survey taken just before the financial crisis hit. The overall outlook for the Springs, calculated by subtracting the percentage of employers cutting jobs from those adding staff, tied for eighth highest with El Paso, Texas, and Hartford, Conn., among the 100 metropolitan areas surveyed by Manpower.
