(1,786 posts)...but nothing accidental about it. Pure negligence on the part of the firearm owner.

(82,849 posts)We need some regulation of firearms, because too many kids are getting killed with them when they're left laying around.* We need laws that say the gun owner can be charged with felony manslaughter, and if convicted, goes to prison for five years and can never own a gun again.
*And before the predictable nonsense starts, we have strong laws about kids riding in cars being in safety seats, and so forth. Yes, kids still die in car crashes, but we're always on the lookout to minimize the chance of that happening. We don't do anything to reduce the chance that some gun-owning dumbass doesn't leave the family shootin' arn laying around under the bed.

(3,194 posts)These days, someone has to be to blame for everything. I'm sure no charges will be filed, so that won't help with the blame. The gun owner surely can't anticipate a little child getting a hold of the gun, it wasn't her kid after all, so don't blame them. And every gun loving freak will tell you it's not the gun's fault. OR COURSE NOT!!
So clearly, the 3 year old is the one at fault here. Think about it. She was probably in a room she shouldn't have been in. And what gave her the right to take something that did not belong to her. Didn't her mother teach her that yet? The gun was not hers, and she should not have touched it.
Besides, kids come and go, but guns last forever. Go Fund Me page to pay for the funeral costs in 3......2.......1......

(8,380 posts)I had to tell them last month, "You might want to think about moving that gun on the table over there to a more secure location."
D'oh!
They have a gun safe, you now.
