Tired of police violence and racism? Use your privilege to change the system.

This work is hard and boring, and it often isn't fruitful. But if you're looking for ways to work for change that go beyond the awareness of a hashtag and can be done, in many cases, without getting uncomfortable, start here.

high school classmate. You don't even have to confront your own racism, although it helps. Many of these you can do through writing letters, following up and encouraging fellow-minded friends to do the same.

Once and for all. It has failed, and 80-90% of the most egregious abuses take place under its constitution-shredding cover.

"National White Privilege Exchange Day." Each white person could adopt a black person, take him around to the police station and the stores and say, "I'm going to stay home today, so I'm loaning Edgar, here, my white privilege for the day. So if you see him driving around or talking to his friends or shopping in the store, just pretend it's me.

That means no getting pulled over for bullshit reasons or shaking him down on the side of the street while he's conversing with someone. And it means no following him around in the store without asking if he needs help." I can stay home one day and let someone borrow my white privilege can't I? I mean, if I'm not using it or anything....
