Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick SURGES Ahead Of John McCain In Arizona Senate Race (DETAILS)
By Georgia Bristow -

According to recent polls, Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick is now ranking ahead of John McCain in the Arizona Senate race.

McCain held a fairly steady lead in polls for several months. However, there has been a lot of talk about McCain ruining his bid for re-election by endorsing presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. Kirkpatrick has also proven herself as a worthy challenger and is gaining support. The polls show she is now in the lead by 2 points.

During the month of May, John McCain was leading Kirkpatrick by 6 points in the respected PPP poll, but June changed that. McCain went on an insane rant after the mass shooting at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, and blamed the tragedy on President Obama.

Later, a representative for McCain tried to back peddle and explain that, despite the fact that he repeated the phrase “Barack Obama is directly responsible,” what McCain really meant was that President Obama’s policies contributed to the formation of ISIS.

McCain seems to be doing his part to sink his own ship. That rant, along with a confusing, but nevertheless official, endorsement of Donald Trump, may have just given Ann Kirkpatrick the boost she needed to win the Arizona Senate race.

The shift isn’t surprising to anyone. Instead of being seen as a maverick, as he’s been in the past, McCain just comes across now as a temperamental, erratic politician. In times like these, regardless of political party, the citizens are looking for a candidate they can count on.

Ann Kirkpatrick is a very popular Arizona congresswoman who has served several terms. She has a solid track record and certainly seems like the more sensible choice to many voters.

but Kelli Ward, Alex Meluskey, Scott McBean, and Clair Van Steenwyk are all nuts. McCain's closest republican competitor (Ward) is down 11 ... and the type of voter that would vote for McCain would NEVER support Ward!

So I will continue doing the GOTV for her, comforted in the vision of seeing a Senator Kirkpatrick.

It's tough unseating an incumbent Senator. Low information voters troop off to the polls and cast their ballot for the familiar name, the name they know. Good old Senator X, another six years! It happened in Oregon with the repellent Bob Packwood, aided and abetted by a Democratic party that never could seem to get its act together to put up a credible alternative candidate or finance a campaign that could overcome Packwood's fundraising prowess.

McCain will have all the money he needs at his disposal, as well as name recognition all over the state. Kirkpatrick needs money -lots of it - to respond to the inevitable onslaught from McCain and the "unaffiliated voter education groups" that will surely flood the state with advertising extolling McWalnuts.

AZ has added 30014 new R voters since 2012 and D's have gone down 12520 in that same period. So I am suspicious of polls at this point in the campaign.

My folks moved from there and told me stories of the need to 'bale' snow and pile them in public parks and other public places. The ice would last until this time of year which was fine for the kids

'Good snow years' would have them baling and dumping the lot into Lake Ontario over the falls and eventually to the Atlantic.

wasn't just about snow. It was so erratic and unpredictable, down right schizophrenic. The temperatures could move 40 or 50 degrees up or down in 12 hours. Tornadoes, floods, humid heat waves, torrential thunderstorms, and of course crippling blizzards.

I've never been to Buffalo, but I do remember dump trucks having to come in and haul snow away because there was no place left to put it. Its exhausting just thinking about it.

I think that the dislike for Trump, and the prospect of a woman president may well be enough to tip the state to Clinton, but that won't be enough to help Kirkpatrick unless we really get out the vote.

I'm sure we all want McCain to lose but this is just bad analysis. Yes the PPP poll in May had Kirkpatrick down 6 and the one from early June had her up 2. Great! Then the latest PPP poll from the end of June had her down by 2. Huh, we'd this "surge" go? Going from being down 6 to being down 2 is good but certainly not a surge. The author just ignored this and wrote up this fictional analysis anyways. The most recent poll actually shows the opposite of what the author is trying to convince us of. After Orlando McCain's numbers went up.
