Bye-bye, Batshit

At our county Dems monthly luncheon today I asked Dave Young, our representative in the Colorado legislature, if he was going to miss working with "Dr. Chaps" who won't be returning after being primaried. ( For reference, Right Wing Watch gently refers to Gordon “Dr. Chaps” Klingenschmitt as a "demon-obsessed anti-gay exorcist".)

Young responded with a smile-grimace, and said working with the guy was scary because he is, in fact, extremely intelligent, often parsing out budget minutiae that others had missed, between often frightening flights of extremist off-the-wallism. Young hopes that whoever wins that seat will have the smarts without the nuts.

Sometimes, it seems, we need to be reminded that intelligence and insanity are not mutually exclusive.
