As expected.
Right-Wing Medias Unhinged Response To Supreme Courts Whole Womans Health Ruling
Following the Supreme Courts 5-3 decision in Whole Womans Health v. Hellerstedt to strike down Texas' HB 2, a strict Texas abortion law, right-wing media figures reacted by claiming the Supreme Court sides with the killers of unborn babies and saying the ruling was a victory for those who celebrate baby killing.

(15,429 posts)Though expressions of disagreement over decisions are common amongst liberal people, I never see bullshit like the "Texit" crap being spewed by the right over this decision.

(670 posts)is the one about how "baby-killing" is a "sacrament". I can just imagine the altars being set up in Texas for public sacrifices to the Flying Spaghetti Monster...

(28,795 posts)Although its depressing to realize that too many Republican Party voters think that Donald Trump should be President, its even more depressing to watch so many GOP notables beginning to line up behind him like lemmings. One hopes.
There are several possible explanations for the lemming-like behavior. First, some arent capable of recognizing the danger, think this is an election like any other, and are seizing on the dim signs that Trump is pivoting to justify supporting. Second, some dont care a whit about the country, so long as they think their own position is secure. Third, some recognize the danger to the country, but place duty to party above all. Fourth, as with climate change, some are just squeezing their eyes shut, sticking their fingers in their ears, and singing la-la-la-la loudly enough to drown out the unpleasant truth.
and the following still holds largely true, AFAICT
Clinton still is likely to carry all the states that the Democratic Party has carried in the last three presidential elections. They total 227 electoral college votes, leaving her 43 votes shy of victory. The tossup states, totaling 116 electoral college votes, are Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Obama carried Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia in both of his elections. Clinton can carry any of several combinations of tossup states to hit the magic number.

(58,698 posts)For all the misleading rhetoric, it was patently obvious what these laws and restrictions were about from the get-go, and that is eliminating a woman's constitutional, and moral, right to determine what to do about a pregnancy.
No rhetorical arguments have ever dissuaded me from my belief that it is morally reprehensible to force a woman to take a pregnancy she doesn't want to term. I don't even care about the motivation behind her decision, it is her decision alone, made in concert, hopefully, with a qualified physician who bases his practice on science, not on out dated and out moded religious crap.

(12,875 posts)Apparently rightwingers knew the official rationale was a sham in the first place.
They just confirmed the majority ruling that its actual intent was to limit access to abortion services.

They don't care about the real babies who are born to families with no money, no job, and no insurance.
