Video: RawStory
Andy Parker, the father of a reporter who was murdered on live television last year, accused the National Rifle Association (NRA) of being the real terrorists after the pro-gun group attacked House Democrats attempts to pass gun safety reforms.
During an NRA radio show on Wednesday, host Cam Edwards lashed out at Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) and other Democrats for holding a sit-in on the House floor.
So in order to push legislation that the sponsors say would not have prevented the attacks in Orlando, Florida, theyre also going to flout the House rules, Edwards opined. Kind of like, you know, criminals and terrorists flout the rules that we have in place right now and will continue to do so?
Parker responded on Thursday while speaking to CNNs Carol Costello.
The real terrorists are the folks at the NRA, he said. Those are the terrorists. And unfortunately, you have politicians that are complicit theyve pledged allegiance to the NRA versus the United States of America and the safety of its citizens.
And Ive called them treasonous and I will continue to call them treasonous.

(16,399 posts)I know gun owners and sportsman who are also lobbyists who want nothing to do with the NRA they are so toxic. Yet right here on DU we have "liberals" who carry their piss without apology.

I think The Who had a refrain about that.

(3,384 posts)I'm a rifle owner and this is what I think about the NRA::
The NRA supports and lobbies for making it easier for Anti-American extremist groups and potential domestic terrorists to obtain powerful weapons. The NRA itself should be deemed a domestic terrorist group.
Al Qaeda would need at least nine twin towers like attacks each year to equal what Americans do to themselves every year with guns.
USA PATRIOT Act
The USA PATRIOT Act defines domestic terrorism activities as "activities that (A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the U.S. or of any state, that (B) appear to be intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion, or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping, and (C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S."

(81,383 posts)Very soon after his daughter was blown away by a gunner, live on morning television, he said he thought gun apologists should be "shamed" into making changes.
I heard that and started jumping up and down with joy. Literally. That is EXACTLY what we need to do at this point. They need to be NAMED. And they need to be SHAMED. The public needs to know who they are and how fiercely they stand in the way and refuse even to discuss things. They need to be dragged out into the proverbial public square.
NAME 'em and SHAME 'em.
I still want to know which Congressmembers refused to meet with the grieving Newtown parents awhile back.
NAME 'em and SHAME THEM, TOO.

(16,936 posts)the Newtown incident is the marking point in my mind that tells me that they are ruthless MF'ers that do NOT care about humanity - only the $$$ from the NRA.
There will be a special place in HELL for those that have failed our children. I believe that.

(5,512 posts)They're puppets of the arms industry, exploiting the 2nd amendment for profits. Why do you think the NRA refuses to concede even on assault rifles like the AR-15? It's because those are good money for gun manufacturers. They claim to represent the average gun owner, but it's really all about money.
