A white Arkansas couple who say they are Muslim converts were taken into custody on Saturday morning after being accused of making terroristic threats over a waitresss service at a diner, 5News reports.
The married couple, Alan and Daphne Crawford, were arrested for questioning by the FBI near a shopping mall at about 8:30 a.m. local time.
The two individuals were arrested with the assistance of state and local partners as part of an ongoing federal investigation, an FBI statement provided to 5News said. Unfortunately, at this time we can provide no additional details. We can state that we are not aware of any threats to the public.
The station reports that Alan Crawford became upset while eating at Mels Diner in Prairie Grove on May 24. He accused the waitress serving their table of slamming the door between the dining area and the kitchen. Crawford also became upset because he felt his order was taking too long and the food was too expensive.

(76 posts)Maybe they got the tattoos before they converted. That's giving them the benefit of the doubt, which I'm not sure they deserve.

(6,913 posts)Sounds like a sick way of demanding attention. I bet if asked, he'd say Muslims get special, favorable treatment.

(14,449 posts)Tattoos are not forbidden. The weirdest part is they complained about costs but didn't they see the costs while ordering? Glad the FBI is on this especially if they claimed terror attacks. That's the last thing we need. They must be investigated even as Muslim. We learned we have to take threats seriously.

(14,912 posts)those when I had my own restaurant. I would not stand for ANY abuse of my servers. I would tell anyone who did to leave immediately, and tell them they could go on their own (the easy way), or I could 'help' them leave (the hard way). Being right at 6'3" and, at the time, 275lbs with my long hair, beard & mustache and tattoos, I only ever had to 'help' one person... a beligerent drunk on the late night shift...
For the ones who just complained about the time and/or service, I just told them "I am sorry that you had a bad experience but, as you can see, we are a small place, we're packed, and ALL food is cooked to order. Your meal is on the house today, and I hope that you come back and give us another chance." Half of the time, they would still offer to pay for their meal, but I wouldn't take their money. I would just eat the cost as "the price of doing good business", and I also gave the server the appropriate tip for their ticket price out of MY pocket.
Looks like they might be getting more than a few 'free meals', but we need to see everything else that comes out of this. The article is all over the place.... "arrested while eating" yet "also became upset because he felt his order was taking too long and the food was too expensive." Were they being watched already, with such a quick response by the FBI? *THAT* is what is most puzzling for me right now... even if they were very beligerent and the owner called the cops, how did the FBI get there so quickly??
