-snip-
Its the slippery slope. Were going to take this benefit away from them and in a couple of years were going to take this benefit away from them, he added.
Most Americans in the private sector dont even have these benefits, Cavuto argued.
They should have them, Leser pointed out.
Yeah, we should all have Chateaubriand every night, but we dont, Cavuto shot back. We dont have that option. Lets wake up in the real world.

(13,190 posts)I have a State Government pension after 25 years in Law Enforcement I'm not going to lie it's a good pension I get 4300.00 a month but what the rethugs don't tell you is money is taken out of your check every two weeks for pension investment until you retire. Before I retired they were taking 385.00 every two weeks out of my paycheck this money is invested in a pension fund. What is REALLY going on here is the rethugs are trying to help there rich buddies steal the pension funds through out the country.Randy has been all over this story on her radio show

(31,706 posts)Talk to a big business type about perks and pensions and its discussed like its a privilidge an adult gives a child rather than a right earned through hard work. Thus they view those large pools in pension funds as a "gift" that they sure could use now more than you or other workers can. Also...for many years the banks and their allies make lots of money through "investing" on those pensions and don't like the concept of millions of baby boomers cashing out and giving them less gambling chips to play with.
The lack of strong unions will mean even more purges of pensions and investments no matter how much a worker puts away. The corporates want to put the load of retirement (or what's left of it) on the government and then cut their legs out to grab even more money.

(38,958 posts)I believe he can start by taking a cut to his pension. I worked for mine & fully expect to collect it just as I expect to collect Social Security when it is time. They are "entitlements" and through my work I am entitled to collect them, that was the deal when I started working and I am planning on collecting.

(16,858 posts)but you'd better not say anything about CEOs making obscene amounts of money and then getting a golden parachute after they run the company into the ground. That mindset is breathtakingly foolish, yet at least 30% of Americans believe that shit (I'm basing that figure on the number of people who supported Dubya at his lowest ebb). I shouldn't be surprised that more people don't see the hypocrisy there. The 'liberal' media doesn't do a very good job at pointing out defects in RW logic.

But is funny that you want to keep others from getting any.
Bet you've eaten your share.

(13,081 posts)...on my private island, using the bronzed heads of mummified Egyptians kittens as golf balls, I'd have have half a mind to let my chauffeur drive my butler into the city so my butler could engage Mr. Cavuto pugilistically. Perhaps instead I'll have a pair of my Charlize Theron clones give me a foot massage.
Thank you, teacher's union, for allowing me to live in such a manor!

(23,272 posts)I consider myself a global citizen but obviously not at that $$$$ level. I will say though that I've had some world class food from street vendors around this planet. I'll probably die without ever having sampled chateaubriand but I certainly don't feel cheated.
Regardless, that Rethug typifies the disgusting lies the right is perpetuating on a daily basis through their talking points. We better come up with better responses about the value of unions or they will own the "unions are greedy and bad" meme for the rest of the campaign.
