How was George Romney able to run for President in 1968?

I am REALLY sick of all this "birther" talk still going on, &, using T-bagger logic, can't help but wonder how Mitt's dad was able to run for Prez since he was born in Mexico.

Even "if" Obama was not born in Hawaii (though I definitely believe he was), wouldn't it be the same situation as George Romney?

Next time "the donald" or other T-baggers bring this up, this is what they should be asked.
That should shut 'em up.

1. He didn't run.

There was just talk about George running.
Mostly his.
He had to back off later during the campaign in 1968.

George entered the United States illegally after he was born in ol' Mexico.
Kind of a sticky wicket for him to be running for higher office if you know what I mean.

2. What would prevent him from running?

The Constitution does not say that anyone needs to have any particular qualifications to "run for" the office of president.

I have been running for Pope in the last two Papal elections. Granted, I am not Catholic, and I failed to get any votes, but how am I prevented from announcing my candidacy and urging the cardinals to vote for me?
