"Can you believe it?" Trump asked the crowd at a rally here Wednesday evening. "Think of it: They moved the PGA Tour moved the World Golf Championship from Miami, where they're furious, to Mexico City. Not good."
He continued: "But that's okay. Folks, it's all going to be settled, you vote for Donald Trump as president. If I become your president, this stuff is all going to stop."

(27,995 posts)I don't think I've seen him smile or look relaxed. I think he's used to ordering people around and it ticks him off when they don't bow to his will.

(27,995 posts)I don't think he EVER thought that it would go this far. He's never been a staunch Republican and now he's the leader of their party.

b) They need to do better w/Hispanics and Blacks
So they get a thin skinned racist who is an out loud and proud misogynist who is
worried about golf tournaments and helped to run a scam university to steal money
from people who couldn't afford it. And he is picking a fight w/the judge in a trial
about his scam university too.
BTW the PGA is all about business and $ and so they were no doubt looking for a
reason to cut all ties w/Trump. The man is toxic.

Oh well if you let Rush, Fox News, birthers, and tea party racists run the party
idiots like Trump is what you get. Nobody stood up and called Trump out for
his racist, "I'm sending some of my good people out to Hawaii to look into the

PGA Tour moves tournament from Trump Doral to Mexico City
Golf
DUBLIN, Ohio -- The longtime PGA Tour event at Miami's Trump Doral resort is leaving South Florida and heading to Mexico City in 2017.
The PGA Tour announced Wednesday that the new event will be known as the WGC-Mexico Championship. It will be held March 2-5 next year, with a venue in mind but not yet announced.
The Tour has a seven-year agreement through 2023 with Group Salinas, a collection of companies based in Mexico City primarily involved in retail, television and telecommunications, to sponsor the event.
Trump Doral had been the site of a PGA Tour event since 1962.

(65,078 posts)The Western Open, later the BMW, was always in Chicago in early July. One of the best attended and most profitable events.
Then they moved it to September as part of the Fed Ex Cup, and same result.
But, to expand the live market to more of the midwest, they now move it around so the huge, golf crazy, Chicago market only gets the tournament twice every five years.
The PGA can SO do whatever it wants that they can do it even if the advantage isn't clear.

(16,066 posts)They were probably looking for a tournament to drop and Trump set them up with the perfect scenario.
Karma.
One note, the PGA is a VERY right wing organization. They are most likely not happy with the way things are going.

(65,078 posts)I did mention short term, didn't i? If i didn't, that's what i meant by immediate. So, probably what i wrote was confusing.
Return Note: Finchem and his predecessor aren't so much the right wing. The tournament directors and sponsors pretty much are and the players' roster is loaded with randian morons. That's why Tom Lehman always stood out so much. He was a rich golfer who promoted progressive causes because he felt extremely lucky to be a millionaire from golf. He was one of the very few. (Also, was Tiger's best friend on tour for years.)
So, while i agree with your "right wing" assessment, i honestly believe it's more rank and file. Bunch of millionaires who think they are lone wolf entrepreneurs.

(22,298 posts)& found one: the 10 year extension on the contract hinged on having a sponsor. Cadillac bows out, no one else steps up to the plate, so the PGA can terminate their contract.

This ought to help fund it. Although I tend to feel they will

(8,964 posts)Didn't anyone tell the PGA about this? He's building a wall, and that means keeping them from ever leaving the country heading southbound. Fantastic. We'd be in good hands with Trump. Future action on global climate change goes off a cliff, but rest assured he'll use his executive golfing authority to the full extent, lest pros are allowed to tee off in the land of rapists, thugs, and biased judges.
