The ex-congressman has said he gave filmmakers Josh Kriegman, a former staffer, and Elyse Steinberg access in hopes that people might get a fuller picture of him. But at this point, the person everyone wants to see is his wife.
The timing of the films release is hardly ideal, coming at a moment when Clinton appears poised to become the first woman to win a major partys presidential nomination. Abedin comes off as the oldest stereotype in politics: the suffering, ornamental spouse.

Depends what is meant - she is clearly a very smart, interesting person in her own right

who happens to be attractive.
For instance, would you refer to Michelle Obama, who is gorgeous as President Obama's "ornamental" wife. I would think that understates who she is as a person.

(51,308 posts)7. I wouldn't refer to any woman as "ornamental."
Period.

I hope it's all positive since she will be our nominee.

(51,308 posts)3. I'd call that a pretty sexist comment, whoever said it.
She's obviously an extremely intelligent and capable woman. She is in no way an "ornamental spouse."
People make mistakes in love all the time.
I won't alert on this post, but I hope someone does, because it reeks of sexism.
